The Story of Prickly

This female was dumped in the area of the Island Sanctuary. We tried several times to catch her and admit her to the sanctuary but she was scared and ran away when  approached. After a few days of unsuccessful attempts some of our volunteers got together and finally managed to catch her from under a prickly pear tree! And from there she got her name Prickly.

Prickly was now very thin and scared. Our volunteers worked hard to win her confidence until she adjusted beautifully to the life at the sanctuary. Little by little she piled weight and is now one happy healthy dog,  happy to share her pen with Ted another rescued dog.
